The National Medical Commission Act, 2019 replaced the Indian Medical Council Act to regulate medical education and practice in India. It established the National Medical Commission to oversee standards, exams, and fees. The Act introduced a common entrance test (NEET) and exit test (NExT) for doctors. It also allows registration of Community Health Providers to improve healthcare access in underserved areas.
